炭鉱技術者として貝島を支え、画家としてその世界を描き続けた山近剛太郎。彼の絵には、坑道を照らす安全灯の光、働く人々の汗、機械が刻む時間が、ただの記録ではなく「生きた記憶」として息づいています。

 山本作兵衛が墨と水彩で素朴に刻んだ炭鉱の姿とは異なり、山近は油彩の重量感と陰影で、その場の空気ごと閉じ込めました。鉱山技師の確かな観察眼と、画家の感性が交差するその作品は、歴史を「知る」のではなく「感じる」ためのものです。

We are pleased to present the art exhibition “Black Sweat and Black Blood” by Gotaro Yamachika.
As an engineer, he supported the coal mines, and as a painter, he continued to depict that world. His paintings do not merely record the past; they breathe with the “living memories” of the coal mines—the glow of safety lamps illuminating the tunnels, the sweat of the workers, and the time etched by machines.
