直方市石炭記念館は日本の近代化を支えた歴史を今に伝える場所です。ここには筑豊石炭鉱業組合直方会議所、救命器収納倉庫、救護練習模擬坑道などの貴重な建物があり、中でも直方市石炭記念館の本館である旧筑豊石炭鉱業組合直方会議所と救護練習所模擬坑道は国指定史跡となっています。

The Nogata City Coal Mining Museum preserves and shares the history that helped shape Japan’s modernization.  
On its grounds are several historically significant structures, including the former Nogata Chamber of Commerce of the Chikuho Coal Mining Association, a rescue equipment storage warehouse, and a simulated mine shaft used for rescue training.
Among these, the museum’s main building—the former Chamber of Commerce—and the simulated training shaft have been designated as National Historic Sites.
